Higgsfield is a generative AI company that builds text-to-video and image-to-video tools aimed at marketers, agencies and social-media creators. Founded in 2024 by Alex Mashrabov, a former Snap computer-vision executive, it became one of the fastest-scaling companies of the 2025–2026 AI boom, reaching a reported US$1 billion annualised revenue run rate within roughly 18 months of launch.[1][2]

History

Mashrabov previously co-founded AI Factory and built the computer-vision technology behind Snapchat's augmented-reality features before leaving to start Higgsfield in 2024.[3] In interviews the founder has described burning through US$10 million before finding product-market fit, shipping product releases six days a week.[1] Commercial traction then arrived quickly: in January 2026 Higgsfield closed an US$80 million Series A extension, bringing the round above US$130 million and valuing the company at over US$1.3 billion, on the back of what Forbes described as unusually rapid adoption of generative video as marketing infrastructure.[4] By late 2026 the company was reported as the third-fastest to reach US$1 billion in ARR, behind only OpenAI and Anthropic, with reports of a further round at an US$8 billion valuation.[1]

Key Concepts and Technology

Higgsfield's defining technical choice is model routing rather than model ownership: instead of training a single proprietary video model, the platform routes each generation request between open-weight and closed models depending on the task, which the company says produces around 80% gross margins on open-model routes against 20–30% on closed ones.[2] Higgsfield spends more than US$4 million per month on internal model inference, a figure the founder has used to argue that per-seat subscription pricing is unsustainable at the prosumer end.[1]

Product-wise the platform emphasises camera-motion controls and social-first formats — the short, punchy clips used in paid social advertising — rather than general-purpose filmmaking. Its scale shows up in usage rankings: Higgsfield was the biggest newcomer to popular-AI-tool rankings with 34.9 million monthly visits in June 2026.[5]

Applications and Impact

Higgsfield is used to produce product videos, ad creative and short-form content for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts, replacing what previously required shoots, editors and post-production budgets. Its rise is a marker of a wider shift: generative video has moved from demonstration to production tooling in advertising, and the economics of that shift now depend more on routing, caching and model selection than on any single model's quality.

🇲🇾Malaysian Context

🇲🇾 Relevance to Malaysia: Malaysian advertising agencies, e-commerce sellers and content creators are heavy consumers of short-form video, and tools like Higgsfield lower the cost of producing that creative in a market where budgets are ringgit-denominated but model inference is billed in US dollars — a gap that pushes local adopters toward cheaper open-weight video models such as Wan and Seedance hosted on local or regional infrastructure. The Malaysian creative sector also has to watch disclosure rules: AI-generated advertising content increasingly falls under labelling expectations such as those in Article 50 of the EU AI Act for anything published there, and Malaysian regulators expect synthetic media to be identifiable. MDEC's digital creative programmes and local startups building video generation on open models are the more sustainable route for Malaysian firms that need volume without a dollar-denominated per-second bill.
